Check out your travel sites - Expedia/Orbitz..they will have deals on hotels/flights and some even offer packages that include sight seeing tours.

Well, you can look at hotels outside of Manhattan. They will be cheaper.
If you are planning on seeing a Broadway show, get tickets through TKTS. Do NOT buy them through Broadway.com, as they add a ton of fees.
Eat at places like Ray’s Pizza, Mamoun’s, and hot dog carts.
Some museums, like the Met, are pay-what-you-wish…so you can give, like, a dollar and get in.
Take the subway, not a taxi.
